John grew up in Ohio playing soccer but switched his pursuit to academics to earn his BS in Biochemistry with a minor in Mechanical Engineering and a medical degree from Ohio State University. In 1998, after completing his residency in Emergency Medicine, he moved to Seattle to work and enjoy the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest. He has been an avid cyclist for years, and on a challenge from a friend, he entered his first triathlon in 2007.
His main interest is the use of current technology such as power meters and GPS devices to optimize training and performance. John has been using power meters for 8 years and has experience analyzing power data files using software such as WKO+, PowerAgent, Garmin Training Center, and TrainingPeaks. John also specializes in bike fittings and is available for custom bike fits for a road or time trial bike.
John feels that “Technology that was once limited to the professional ranks has now become available to all level of athletes. The key is to know how to use this technology to maximize your time and energy to achieve your goals. ”
