Dustin was born and raised in California but has been living in Seattle for the last 15 years. While exploring the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, he discovered his passion for endurance and the outdoors. Initially drawn to the simplicity of running, he has run race distances from 5k to 100 mile trail runs. His greatest accomplishment was winning one of the hardest races in the world, the Plain 100. After running the 220 mile long John Muir Trail unsupported and solo in five and a half days, he decided that he needed a new challenge. He chose the triathlon.
Since the Boise 70.3 in 2011, he has raced in 70.3 and Ironman distance races all over the country and qualified for Kona twice. Always striving for new ways to push his mental and physical limits, he participated last year in the Ultra 520K Canada, a three day triathlon that consists of a 6 mile swim, 260 miles of biking, and a 52 mile run.
When Dustin’s not training, he is trying to avoid tripping on the dog’s leash while he and his wife chase their four year old son who enjoys pretending to be a race car or an airplane.
